John* is guilty of raping Sandra. During the mediation he explained how, under the influence of drugs, he ended up doing what he did, and that he is ashamed of it.
“I immediately apologized to her. I was very ashamed of what I did. After our meeting I was so relieved. I was afraid that I had ruined her life. But it was good to see how strong she was. After the meeting I had the courage to tell my fellow inmates what I was in prison for, and I got in contact with my parents for the first time in a long time. I want to get rid of my addiction. After my sentence, I hope to make a new start.”
