In 2021, Jolanda's son Perry (21) was killed in a stabbing. This left Jolanda with many questions for the perpetrator and his parents. “For a long time, I didn’t know what had driven him to do it. It wasn’t until I spoke with him that I found answers and peace,” says Jolanda. Through Perspectief Herstelbemiddeling she was able to speak with the perpetrator and then with his parents as well.
In this interview at Perspectief Herstelbemiddeling, Jolanda speaks with the perpetrator’s father, Dave. They both talk about how the aftermath of this terrible event has affected them, and about how Jolanda came into contact with both the boy and his parents through Perspectief Herstelbemiddeling. They both emphasize how important they believe it is for those involved in an impactful incident to be given the choice to come into contact with one another or not, and how valuable this can be for both sides.
